Good narration – guess what SS has learnt over the years – making even dud matters engrossing. Of late FELIX of REDPIX is his greatest enabler in this endeavor. Carefully thought through, this whole interaction brings out one disturbing truth at its core – that anyone gets passionate about anything only when they are directly affected – till then it is just a piece of news and probably worthy of posting some consolatory comments online. That is the stark reality re the level of civic duty & social responsibility, as on date. As he himself admits, time and again, the whole SAVUKKU blog happened because he was tortured. What is to be noted is before that he was employed with the same department for nearly 20 years. The same officers like J SAIT downwards or their clones would have manned the department and went through the same routines. They would have not turned all bad with this one “pen drive” episode, meaning they would have done the same unscrupulous things many times over with different victims. And SS would have played along or alteast been a mute spectator but when the time came for him to be the direct victim, he turned a whistle blowing crusader. So what is the take home message?? For anything to have even a probability for a resolution in our great super power nation, the basic requirement is it has to hit people directly. Simply put, this is how pathetic our current reality is. Nothing can be done about it since the biggest national endemic today is our collective indifference. One thing to appreciate SS is how clearly he articulates his motives. Quizzed on how he gets info and how he decides what to pursue, he just says he “decides” so what is clear is that the nation is at the mercy of such people, who have access to information but exercise their own subjectivity in exposing them. Media outlets incl of social media outlets also do not fare any better. They have just institutionalized this whole process, subject to their bias, motives & agenda. Bottomline – any positive outcome is random. As the saying goes Internet these days is an escapist paradise for the informationally overwhelmed and most of our motives is just entertainment. When it is so, is there a point in expecting anything profound or for that matter, when all what we do is just to plainly wonder at & watch happenings in awe, do we even deserve any redemption??

contd…and you haven’t mentioned a word about the financial deficit the new govt. faces despite announcing all such attractive, overwhelming schemes, why? There is no argument about its necessity now, but what/where is the source? Did Mr. PTR ever touched this topic except asking for pending GST fund from the Union govt.?? When you roared about this cost burden in your pre-election interviews i.e. the credit rating of the state will go down with RBI & there won’t be money to even pay the salaries etc., you hardly spoke about it post-election, why??

Mostly journalists tend to channel people’s thoughts in a direction that they prefer to for various reasons, including personal. Not to forget, DMK has got a rich history of corruption as AIADMK, but Dr.kalignar somehow evaded such deliberate arrests through his strong influence, whereas Amma couldn’t. In this 30 days, Mr. CM didn’t make any stern stance against the Union govt. rather than a cautious, gentle approach, fully aware of that Mr.PM has got his strings to pull if necessary. So, it would be too early to bestow any positives except for the pandemic fight, which is a MUST. Mr. CM has no shy in tapping into the expertise from the most experienced in channelling, their so called “party [family] fund” by offering the most lucrative ministries to the people who clearly know what they’re doing. Everyone will have their pie, so no real issues even from the court of justice. Appearances can be deceptive & behind the screens is what really matters. One such good example is NEET exam issue & everyone knows how both the parties have exploited this topic to fuel their own benefit, can anyone deny?? Amma unavagam is a very sensitive topic to touch as its benefit & fame has reached nook & corners, so it’s no surprise that Mr. CM would touch a beehive after such a long wait to power. Ultimately politics, so no need to paint any different color to this as true colors will always come out soon or later.

hm. ok. interesting you jumped in so soon instead of the usual 100 days. feeling a teeny tiny bit insecure perhaps? anyways, getting to the substance of your piece few smart observers expected either dmk or admk to give up hr&ce/temples not due to an evil pappara gumbal waiting to immediately take it over but because of more practical issues in setting up a framework to administer them considering the historical legacy involved as mentioned by ptr. more importantly the huge stink that it would uncover going back decades perhaps tainting some revered dk deities. most everyone seems obsessed with describing indian politics in an americanized framework, so in that lazy spirit one can safely say the hr/ce will stay under the govt as the issue as it stands helps both sides play to their base’s carefully cultivated prejudices. if anything, mukas did a smart U-turn from trying to meddle in srirangam temple- hr&ce wanted to appoint a jeer if i’m not mistaken. if done by hon ex-cm eps sir you would’ve contemptuously categorized that as a ‘pappara adimai’ act. hope that ruins your sleep 😉

as for periyar, bjp overestimates his influence betraying their lack of foundational strength in tn. at the other end dk/dmp types perpetually fantasize about multiplying his reach further as though it isn’t already substantial (even if not revered by a majority), pretending (or perhaps sincerely believing) it’s only a few hundred crores & libraries away from that dream. there are more periyar statues than probably temples & churches, though the latter may overtake him soon enough. enjoy the victory & be secure for a little while before it all falls apart. every media interview by a dmk guy has mr.’Udhay’ as he calls himself on twitter smiling askance so you have more important fights coming your way
