In Mario Puzo’s God Father, a movie producer named Jack Woltz will refuse a request to cast a close relative of the Don Vitto Corleone in his new film. He would have also passed some racist remarks.
The next morning, he will find his favourite thoroughbred horse’s head in his bed.
We have our own Vitto Corleone in Tamil Nadu. He is none other than the ‘Chinnavar’ Udhayanidhi Stalin who is Chief Minister in the waiting (according to his mother).
The damsel in distress that Vitto Corlenone rescued was Kollywood starlet Amala Paul.
Amala Paul and her paramour Bhavninder Singh, a singer were in a live-in relationship.

According to news reports “Amala Paul was madly in love with Mumbai-based singer Bhavninder Singh for several years now. If reports are anything to go by, they were in a live-in relationship.”.
To cut a long story short, Amala Paul’s story is typical of many actresses’ story. A celebrity and Amala Paul who wanted each other as a ladder to climb in their respective careers got into a convenient arrangement, lived in for some time, started business venture, started intolerable to each other,separated, flung charges, went to court and finally to police.
Amala Paul after getting engaged to Bhavninder Singh started a movie production house and Bhavinder Singh and his brother looked after this work.
Relationship turned sour and the couple separated in October 2019. According to industry insiders, it was Bhavninder Singh who had invested all the money for the movie ‘Cadaver’. Since the couple were not in talking terms, the movie’s rights was sold by Amala Paul on her own to Disney Hotstsar.
Amala Paul moved the Madras High Court. She filed a Civil Suit in 144 of 2021 and got an injunction against Bhavaninder Singh not to interfere with the release of the movie on 1st April 2021.
When Amala Paul tried to sell the movie to Hotstar, Bhavninder through his counsel informed Hotstar about the pendency of litigation. But Amala Paul managed to get court’s clearance on 11.08.2022 through an order in OA 447 of 2022.
It is at this juncture, Amala Paul decided to teach Bhavninder a lesson. At the same time, she doesn’t want to sully her name. She authorised her advocate one Vigneswaran to file a police complaint on her behalf. This complaint dated 26 August 2022 was addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. In this complaint, the following 7 people were mentioned as accused.
1) Mr. Bhavninder Singh Dhatt, alias Bhuvi, residing at No. 12, Meerambigai Garden, Auroville Road, Periyamudaliarchavady, Villupuram District, Kottakuppam – 605 101.
2) Mr. Julfikar, alias Zulfi, permanent resident of TA 226/5, Gali No. l, Tuglakabad Vistar Kalkaji, South Delhi- 110 019, and presently residingwith the 1st Accused.
3) Mr. Brian Siddhartha Ingle, WhatsApp number: residing at Flat No. F3, Nandanam Apartment, No.66, Pappammal Koil St. Vaithikuppam, Puducherry – 605 001
4) Mr. I. Hebaskar alias Gavaskar Pillai, residing at No. 20, First Floor, Vembuli Amman Koil Street, West K.K. Nagar, Chennai – 600 07
5) Mr. Karan Kanojia, residing at Rz 600C, Park Apartment, Gali No.20, Tughlakabad Extn., New Delhi – 110 019
6) Mr. Mithilesh Kumar, having office at 312, Pooja Complex, 22 Veer Savarkar Block, Shakarpur, Laxmi Nagar, New Delhi – 110 092
7) Mr. Ranjit Jha, + having office at No. 198, 2nd Floor, Benipur Nagar Parishad, Near Bahera Post Office, Vill Bahera, Darbhanga, Bihar – 847 201
The complaint starts like this. “I, N. Vigneshwaran, aged a have been given the power to file the present complaint through a Power of Attorney document dated 23.08.2022 by Ms.Amala Paul aged about 29 years, d/o Late Mr.Paul Varghese, Ernakulam, Kerala – 680 021 [hereinafter referred to as the “Complainant”].
I file this complaint on the aforementioned subject against the aforementioned Accused persons based on the instructions received from the Complainant.”
In this complaint dated 26.08.2022 there are no whispers about the engagement of Amala Paul with Bhavninder Singh, the existence of intimate photographs, a romantic relationship, etc. The complaint was addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. This has been subsequently changed to ‘Superintendent of Police, Villupuram’ in handwriting.
The Chennai City Police, went through the complaint and promptly refused this proxy complaint stating that this is purely a ‘civil matter’.
It is at this juncture the damsel in distress – Amala Paul – approached our own Vitto Corleone. It was Udhay Anna who threw his weight. According to highly placed sources, the Chepauk Che used the services of his Enforcers. For those who are not familiar with the jargon of God Father, an Enforcer is
An enforcer is a made member or associate of a crime family. They are usually responsible for dealing with those who do not go along with mob policies. This usually involves threats of, or actual types of violence, including beatings and murder, done under the order of their Don.
The Enforcers who executed the Writs of Vitto Corleone in this episode are Dr Sreenatha IPS Superintendent of Police Villupuram, D. Mohan IAS, Collector Villupuram.
Mohan IAS is a suave operator and knows how to grease the right palms. During the previous ADMK regime, he was the Managing Director of TASMAC and was very close with former Minister Thangamani. Now he has become one of the important Enforcer of TN’s Vitto Corleone and is tipped to be transferred to a powerful post. The fact that Mohan IAS is powerful both in ADMK & DMK will vouch for the savviness of Mohan.
D. Mohan IAS
The other Enforcer Sreenatha IPS is not to be left out. He is a native of Karnataka and is reported to be demanding posting as SP Krishnagiri. Both Mohan and Sreenatha got into the act. Though Mohan, as District Collector doesn’t have much say in the police investigation, he was reported to be giving minute-by-minute updates to the Don – Udhayanidhi Stalin.
To invoke Villupuram jurisdiction, some link is required. So the rental agreement of Amala Paul of the house she and her paramour stayed at Kottakuppam Villupuram was obtained by the Enforcers to invoke jurisdiction.
A fresh complaint was prepared by the same ‘power of attorney’ of the actress. This complaint was made juicy, includes, threat by complainant of revealing intimate photos of the accused with the actress, threats to release the images, threats of physical harm, criminal intimidation, etc. The father, mother, sister and brother-in-law of the first accused were included and the complaint was filed against 12 people.
A case was registered under sections, 120-B, 465 r/w 511, 467, 468, 471, 420, 406, 419, 379, 384, 500, 506 (ii) IPC, 66 of IT Act and Section 4 of TN Women Harassment Act.
Highly placed sources say it was originally planned to include 376 against the accused for rape under the promise of marriage. As including female members in a rape case would sound odd, sexual harassment alone has been included.
Never in the history of TN police a case of sexual harassment against a woman registered on a complaint by her power of attorney. This is also fatal to the prosecution’s case as in all probability this will be quashed at the admission stage itself, if posted before a law-knowing judge.
However, Villupuram SP Shreenatha IPS defended his action.
He said, “No one issued any instructions to register this case. I am not aware that Udhayanidhi Stalin has anything to do with this. I went through the facts of the case and prepared a detailed note, had a discussion with legal experts and updated our superior officers and it was a conscious decision to register a case.”
When asked about the reason for registering the case at Villupuram though the entire alleged crime occurred in Chennai, he said, based on the rental agreement for the Kottakuppam house, Villupuram police took cognizance.
Prima facie I believe there’s a strong case against the few accused especially Mr Bhavninder Singh and few others but we are not convinced about the role of his family members.
Evidence is clear about the role of A.1 Bhavninder Singh. He has not made any financial contribution.
Initially, I told them that Viluppuram has no jurisdiction to register the case but later they gave an agreement copy of renting a house at Kottakuppam.
The case basically is of alleged preparation of forged documents, forged signatures and sending the forged documents to the ministry of corporate affairs. These forged documents are with us but We are in the process of collecting the original documents.
He has become director of the production company by removing her by forged documents. He’s not made any financial contributions to the company.
Shreenatha IPS
Chennai city police referred to Viluppuram because of jurisdiction issues. They first came and settled in Viluppuram District in 2018, so it comes in our jurisdiction
Amala Paul has accepted that she’s being cheated by Mr Bhavninder Singh and she tried to go ahead in life and she had no intention to give any police case. But the trigger point was when Mr Bhavninder and his friends phoned and created an issue recently.”
Mr. Shreenatha also added that he has always followed the instructions of his seniors.
Now A.1 Bhavaninder Singh alone has been arrested and sent for remand. Negotiation is being conducted with the family members of Bhavninder Singh by the Enforcers of Vitto Corleone, that they should pay 4 crores to avoid incarceration.
Since Udhayanidhi Stalin has blocked this author in WhatsApp, SMS was sent seeking his remarks, but he chose not to respond. Villupuram Collector D.Mohan did not respond to WhatsApp queries and if he responds, this piece will be updated.
Sources close to the accused Bhavninder Singh say, he will use the law to its fullest extent to ensure that those who are responsible for his incarceration and the harassment of his family members pay for their deeds.
A senior police officer, on condition of anonymity, said, “If he is (Udhayanidhi) doing this when he was just an MLA, my body shivers to imagine what will happen if he becomes a Minister or CM.
I will shift to another state when that happens” he said.
We all may have to shift too !!
